Su aprendizaje en<br \/>\nla fotograf\u00eda ha sido principalmente de manera autodidacta. Se inicia<br \/>\nen la fotograf\u00eda en 1981, registrando eventos sociales y realizando<br \/>\nretratos en Chinameca (Veracruz), Los Mochis (Sinaloa) y La Paz (Baja<br \/>\nCalifornia). Regresa a Oaxaca en 1984 y, con la edad de 20 a\u00f1os,<br \/>\ncomienza a trabajar como fotoperiodista en diversos peri\u00f3dicos locales<br \/>\n\u2014El Informador, Rotativo, El Extra, El Imparcial, El Oaxaque\u00f1o, entre<br \/>\notros\u2014. De abril a julio de 1998, fue fot\u00f3grafo oficial de la campa\u00f1a<br \/>\nde H\u00e9ctor S\u00e1nchez, candidato a gobernador por el estado de Oaxaca por<br \/>\nel PRD. Colabora eventualmente para el diario nacional Reforma<br \/>\n(2001-2004) y, a partir del a\u00f1o 2000, para la revista PROCESO. Desde<br \/>\nel 2011, trabaja en el \u00e1rea de comunicaci\u00f3n social como fot\u00f3grafo, en<br \/>\nel Congreso del Estado de Oaxaca.<\/p>\n<p>En 1993 y 1994, forma parte de las exposiciones colectivas de<br \/>\nreporteros gr\u00e1ficos \u201cGente, Lugares y Sucesos\u201d (Oaxaca) e \u201cIm\u00e1genes de<br \/>\nreporteros gr\u00e1ficos de Oaxaca\u201d (San Francisco, California, E. U),<br \/>\nrespectivamente. Obtuvo el Premio Estatal de Periodismo en Fotograf\u00eda<br \/>\n\u201cBenito Ju\u00e1rez Garc\u00eda\u201d, otorgado por el Gobierno del Estado, el 18 de<br \/>\njulio de 1997; as\u00ed como el premio \u201cRicardo Flores Mag\u00f3n\u201d, en<br \/>\nfotograf\u00eda por el \u201cD\u00eda de la Libertad de Expresi\u00f3n\u201d, otorgado por las<br \/>\nOrganizaciones de Periodistas Independientes, el 7 de junio de 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Form\u00f3 parte del Grupo Luz 96 \u2014colectivo de corta duraci\u00f3n integrado<br \/>\npor fot\u00f3grafos en Oaxaca, que colaborar\u00eda con el artista Francisco<br \/>\nToledo en la fase inicial del Centro Fotogr\u00e1fico Manuel \u00c1lvarez<br \/>\nBravo\u2014, participando para el festival Fotoseptiembre de 1996, 1998 y<br \/>\n2000, en algunas exposiciones colectivas realizadas y financiadas por<br \/>\nlos mismos participantes. Despu\u00e9s, tomar\u00eda distancia al considerar que<br \/>\nel fotoperiodismo era relegado de un campo fotogr\u00e1fico dominado por la<br \/>\nfotograf\u00eda art\u00edstica. El libro \u201cMemorial de Agravios, Oaxaca, M\u00e9xico,<br \/>\n2006\u201d, publicado en 2008, integr\u00f3 algunas de sus im\u00e1genes, al<br \/>\nrevalorar a diversos fotoperiodistas y fot\u00f3grafos que atestiguaron el<br \/>\nmovimiento social del 2006 y 2007 en Oaxaca.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div style='height:20px' class='hr hr-invisible '><span class='hr-inner '
